Arkhen Vale
The long valley created by the River Arkhen forms the land occupied by Archendale. The valley is enclosed on both sides by high banks that can be climbed on foot but not on horseback. Two paths to the outside world, one on either end of the valley, are accessible to a mounted warrior or a trader's wagon. These are the road north from White Ford and the road south form Archenbridge.
Before the Dale grew prosperous, the lower end of Arken Vale was all farms, and the upper end was rocky and largely deserted sheep grazing land. Below Arch Pool, the well-ordered countryside presents a vista of gently sloping tilled fields divided by hedgerows that have grown up around rows of heaped stones.
Amid these neat and fertile farms stand the hamlets of Lady's Belt, Nairning, and Ramblecoats, places which offer farmer's markets and farm supplies stores.
